After like 500 years I was inspired by a band called Diarrhea Planet to try my hand at music again. Equipped with a crappy video game mic and a room not fit for recording in, I decided to put my rusty drumming "skills" to the test. I had no idea what I wanted to do or what structure to follow, I just wanted to sit by as the music led itself. Surprisingly, it actually kind of turned out! What you hear is more or less what happened, all in one take.
I sat on it for about a day before busting out my old guitar (which had been seeing use on loan by friends in other bands since 2013), and messing around with it on top of my improvised drums. After about an hour I came up with all 4 guitar tracks, and was ready to take on bass.
Back in the day, I used to just record my guitar, then pitch it down for bass, but this time around I was able to borrow a bass from another friend in exchange for some new strings (bassists, geez), so this track got to be a little bit more "legitimate" on that front.
For vocals, I just shouted whatever I figured would sound alright. Needless to say, the jibberish I came up with was pretty bad, but I heard "Your daybreak exists" in the soup of garbage, and decided to attempt to write one of those egotistical self-referential tracks, using names of old Bluefusion songs. The whole writing and recording part on the vocals maybe took like 3 hours.
Lastly, I contacted my old bandmate Shazzy to see if he'd want to take care of some backing vocals or lead guitar parts, and while he was super enthusiastic about it (thanks man!) he didn't feel confident enough to provide any parts just yet. Darn, I'll get you back on your musical feet someday!
So yeah, here's the first "Bluefusion" song I've written since 2013. I hope you like it!?
PS: My ankle and voice hurt for a week after recording this, and dealing with sore throats in 2020 made everyone afraid of me. I became all-powerful for a bit there.
