about
A classic, but now with first-take vocals. Don't worry, there's an instrumental version on the album too.
Back in the day, when my original drummer and I used to practice this song together, we learned each other's parts just in case we ever wanted to swap instruments (which did wind up happening at the end of that band's lifespan), and to this day I could still play it, so I figured, for old time's sake, why not try and re-record the whole thing in a new, lo-fi punk live kind of way?
I was pretty surprised I still remembered how to play the guitar parts, though it took quite a few more tries than I'd have liked.
lyrics
Why can't you get it through your head?
Tough luck, lay down, you've made your bed
With all the lies you keep, the treasures that you seek
Will always be just out of reach
Why can't you learn to take a hint?
Go home, shut up, and then just quit
With all the lies you keep, the treasures that you seek
Will always be just out of reach
You can't force me
Can't coerce me
You can't force me
Can't coerce me
You can't force me
Can't coerce me
You can't force me
All right!
All right!
When will you learn to just give up?
It's done, you're down on your luck
With all the tries you take, your eyes are glazed and fake
You'll always need more than you keep
When will you fold and then just quit?
You've learned your mind is just a pit
With all the tries you take, your eyes are glazed and fake
You'll always need more than you keep.
You can't force me
Can't coerce me
You can't force me
Can't coerce me
You can't force me
Can't coerce me
You can't force me
Yeah.
